Long Hunter State park engagement session

I recently had the opportunity to work with this lovely couple for their engagement session in Nashville, TN. Sara & Cooper are both new to Nashville but love all the parks the area has to offer, so trying to decide on the perfect location was a challenge (too many great locations is a great problem to have!). When it came time to make a final decision we settled on Long Hunter State Park.

Located about 20 minutes west of Nashville, Long Hunter State Park has a massive footprint filled with a bunch of different possible landing spots for photos. The Couchville trail has the best mix of wide walking trails through the forest and epic views from the rocky cliffs surrounding Percy Priest Lake.

I prefer all of my engagement sessions to be 90 minutes. A lot of times the first 10-15 minutes is everyone warming up to being in front of the camera, getting to know the photographer, etc. With engagement session images I want to capture the most natural moments between my couples, and these genuine expressions of love always seems to start happening in the last half of the session. Before the session I always hear “we’re so awkward” (which is very rarely the case), only for my couples to start doing beautiful poses on their own because they’re having fun after warming up.
